The windows didn’t have any cracks, which also surprised Dean. He and Sammy had played baseball in the front yard when they’d been young, and Dean hadn’t caught the ball in time, once: it had hit the corner of a window, shattering it up to the lattice. Bobby had just put miracle tape on it to hide the crack, not bothering to change the glass. Backyard Baseball 2003 is a baseball sim, with characters that are cartoon kids, not realistic player models. While it has a set of fictional kids known to the franchise it also includes a number of real MLB players, as cartoon modeled kids. Humongous 2020. Since 1992, Humongous Entertainment has been a main stay of entertaining and educational games for children. For perhaps a certain generation, Pablo Sanchez is one of the greatest video games players of all-time — right up there with Bo Jackson in 'Tecmo Super Bowl,' Michael Vick in 'Madden 04' and Jeremy Roenick in 'NHL '94.'
On Saturday, Aug. 18, the Lansing Lugnuts will honor the legacies created by Sanchez and the iconic video game in which he stars, 'Backyard Baseball,' by becoming the Lansing Mighty Wombats — one of the teams on the game — and wearing jerseys to reflect as much as part of 'Backyard Baseball Night.'

All fans who share names with characters from the original 'Backyard Baseball' game will receive free admission. There will be drink specials to honor Sanchez's '21st birthday' (the game came out in 1997) and the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a Pablo Sanchez bobblehead.
There will also be a Wiffle Ball field in front of the plaza.
'Backyard Baseball' has an almost mythical reputation among people who grew up with it,” said Lugnuts general manager Tyler Parsons in a press release. “While we are excited for the Pablo Sanchez bobblehead, we wanted to keep adding to the night and really tie into the essence of Backyard Baseball. It was amazing to see how many people responded to the fan vote.”
More than 10,000 votes were cast online, with Mighty Wombats winning out over Humongous Melonheads and Super-Duper Rockets, names of other teams in the game.
'We couldn't think of a more fitting choice than the Mighty Wombats,' Parsons said.
